Pokémon Sword & Shield Cards

What is the Sword & Shield series?

Pokémon TCG: Sword & Shield is the name of the block from your favorite Japanese franchise released in late 2019, with the first 2 boosters forming the main expansion of the Sword & Shield series: the Pokémon Sword Booster and the Pokémon Shield Booster, along with the display version containing 30 boosters.

This set is the first to feature Generation VIII, Pokémon V and Pokémon VMAX in the card game. This first release stars two legendary Pokémon, Zacian and Zamazenta.

From this set on, the Fairy type was removed, with Fairy-type Pokémon represented by the Psychic type. In addition, Poison-type Pokémon moved from Psychic to Darkness.

How many displays are in the Sword & Shield set?

There are a total of 21 Displays to collect and discover in this set, such as the best-known and most prized Shiny Star V, VMAX Climax, Vivid Voltage, Eevee Heroes and the 25th Anniversary S8a.

Why has this set been so successful?

Obviously, with this set including the Celebrations 25th Anniversary Display, it's already an incredible block. But the Shiny Star V (S4a) expansions, with the famous Shiny Charizard VMAX, and VMAX Climax (S8b) with its sublime full-art cards are also behind the block's success.

And of course, how could we not mention one of the favorite Pokémon of Japanese card players and collectors, Eevee. One of the major events of this set was the June 2021 release of the S6a expansion, featuring Eevee and its evolutions as Pokémon V and Pokémon VMAX, and as SR (Secret Rare).
