What is the Pokémon X and Y series?

The Pokémon X and Y series is the sixth generation of Pokémon games, developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company. These games were released on the Nintendo 3DS in October 2013, marking a milestone for the franchise with many new features. The arrival of the Kalos region and its 3 starters: Chespin, Fennekin and Froakie !

For the TCG, it marked the arrival of the Fairy type to rebalance the Dragon type in Pokémon battle strategies. Then there were Mega Evolutions , which let some Pokémon transform into a boosted version of themselves and become more powerful. Finally, 70 Pokémon were added, bringing the total to 700 Pocket Monsters, with the legendaries Xerneas, Yveltal and Zygarde !

How many Pokémon display boxes are in the X and Y set?

Combining the main expansions and the Concept Packs, the XY generation has a total of 22 booster boxes in the Japanese TCG. These expansions introduced many iconic cards and marked a milestone in the evolution of the Pokémon card game.

Why has this set been so successful?

Obviously, the introduction of Mega Evolution cards: These cards brought impressive visuals and new mechanics to the card game.

But in our view, also the Quality artwork: XY card illustrations are among the most loved, with a mix of simplicity and dynamism that appeals to collectors.

Last but not least, the Varied themes: Each expansion offered a striking theme (e.g. Wild Blaze centered on Charizard, Phantom Gate focused on Gengar, or sets like "PokéKyun Collection"). These themes drew collectors with their unique designs.
