How to arrange Pokémon cards in a Binder?

It's time for you to get your first Pokémon Binder to store your best cards, but there are so many that it's hard to find the perfect arrangement! No worries, we'll give you a few ideas for storing your Charizard, Pikachu, Squirtle and all the rest.

Sort by Pokémon generation and number

The simplest and most common method among collectors is to sort by number (or by age): don't worry, there's no need to know the hundreds of Pokémon in each generation by heart. On some cards, under the main image, you'll be able to find the Pokémon's number, which already helps a lot. Otherwise, you can simply check any online Pokédex for the information you need. Remember to leave space in case you pull a holographic version of a card you already have! If you have duplicates, you can always keep them safe in a Pokémon Card Sleeve.

Sort by rarity

Every Pokémon card has a certain rarity level, which you can find at the bottom right of the card, in 3 levels: commons with a black circle, uncommons with a black diamond and finally a black star for rares. But if you're an expert, you already know there are many more rarity levels within that last category.

You can arrange the cards in your Pokémon Binder by separating the Pokémon GX Cards, V, VMAX and EX from the rest, which are much more ordinary. Ideally, when you open a binder, you discover the cards from most common to rarest: keep your half art and half body for the end, followed by full art and full body.

Then, you may be lucky enough to have the rarest of all: rainbow rare, secret rare and promos. In that case, why not put them right at the beginning, to see the masterpieces as soon as you open your Pokémon Binder!

Sort by type

Let's be honest, you probably have a TON of Energy cards and no idea what to do with them, especially if you don't play competitive TCG. You can start by separating them from your other Pokémon cards, and start to group fire, water, the lightning,... Then, you can sort them using the two other methods above: by rarity, with Pokémon VMAX or GX cards towards the end, or by number with the most recent at the end of the binder.

For all the cards left aside, such as duplicates or Energy cards, you can keep them safe in a Pokémon Storage Box or in Pokémon card sleeves, so they won't gather dust and will stay in perfect condition if you want to trade them with another collector.

How to make a Pokémon card binder?

Maybe you want to make your own Pokémon binder for your rarest cards! Although it's not an easy task, we'll try to help as best we can! You'll need specific pages, some dividers to customize and of course a binder.

First of all, we recommend buying Pokémon binder pages rather than making them yourself: Pokémon cards don't match any standard size, so apart from official products, you'll struggle to find any and it will be very hard to make them yourself. Make sure the number of holes on the page matches the rings of the Pokémon binder; some have 4, others 3 and sometimes even two.

Next, prepare some special dividers you can color in. If you're artistic, you can draw your own Pokémon (fan art) to separate your cards in great style! Otherwise, you can take a classic divider and print your favorite Pokémon, then stick it on with a special glue.

Finally, the binder itself must be super sturdy, and preferably made of cardboard. It's a material you can customize a lot! You can print images or drawings of Pokémon from the latest generation (Sun & Moon or Sword & Shield) and stick them on the front and back of the binder. If you have a printer that can make Pokémon stickers, even better and easier!

Best way to sort your cards

What we recommend, above all, is to have a Pokémon binder imported from Japan: it's exclusive, very few people in France are lucky enough to have one, and they're designed especially for the latest Pokémon cards ! You can get one right here, depending on availability and stock: they're sent directly by our team from Tokyo.

They always come with divider pages and storage pages: no need to spend hours online looking for the best layout, they're ready to go. On top of that, Pokémon releases binders regularly for each generation: if you have Pokémon Boosters Sword & Shield, there's surely a binder for them!

Of course, the best is still to sort your cards according to your own preferences: as for us, we simply kept the ones we find most beautiful in a limited-edition binder, and the rest is safely stored in a case.
